Five Arkansas circuit judges and the Domestic Violence Program Coordinator for the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) attended the Enhancing Judicial Skills in Domestic Violence Cases Workshop offered by the National Council of Juvenile and Family Judges.
In 2011, 13 women were killed by a spouse or intimate partner in Arkansas. October is the National Domestic Violence Awareness month. To commemorate the importance of this month and to highlight the prevalence of Domestic Violence in Arkansas, the Arkansas Coalition Against Domestic Violence hosted a Rally Around the Capitol awareness activity on October 12, 2012. The events of the Rally centered on the celebration of survivors, mourning of victims, and a promotion of awareness of domestic violence.
