The Arkansas Supreme Court Library, created by Act of 1851, serves the justices and staff of the Arkansas Supreme Court, the judges and staff of the Arkansas Court of Appeals, and support staff located within the Justice Building. Within certain limitations, the library is under the exclusive control and supervision of the Arkansas Supreme Court. Ark. Code Ann. §16-11-110.
The library is also open to the general public, who are welcome to conduct personal research with reference assistance provided by the library staff. The library is open to the public from 8AM-5PM, Monday-Friday (closed state holidays). The library participates as a selective depository in the federal government document and Arkansas state government document programs.
Public computer terminals are provided for Internet access, including legal-research resources WESTLAW, The Making of Modern Law (Gale CENGAGE Learning), LEXIS ADVANCE, Arkansas Legal Forms (Gale CENGAGE), and HeinOnline. Free Wi-Fi access is provided. The library is a research collection -- materials must be used on-site and are not loaned. No charge is imposed for use of the library; photocopies cost 10 cents per page.
