Judge Larry D. Vaught was born in Booneville, Arkansas, and raised in Little Rock. He received a B.A. degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1969, and a J.D. from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock School of Law in 1979. He was a public school teacher for eight years before attending law school. He was a deputy prosecuting attorney for the Sixth Judicial District 1979-1982, practiced privately from 1982-1989, and was Pulaski County Civil Attorney 1989-1993. Judge Vaught was elected to the Pulaski County Municipal Court bench in 1993 where he served for seven years. In 2000, he was elected to the Arkansas Court of Appeals from the sixth district for a four-year term beginning January, 2001. He was re-elected in 2006 to an eight year term. He served a four-year term as Chief Judge of the Court from 2009 to 2013.
