Biography: Judge Abramson is a fourth-generation citizen and resident of Holly

Grove, Arkansas. He received his undergraduate degree from the
University of Virginia in 1973 and his law degree from the University
of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1976. He practiced law in Clarendon,
Arkansas, for thirty-four years, serving at various times as Monroe
County Public Defender, Clarendon Municipal Court Judge, Holly
Grove Police Court Judge, and Holly Grove City Attorney. Judge
Abramson has also served as a Special Justice on the Arkansas
Supreme Court on five cases. Governor Mike Beebe appointed Judge
Abramson to the Arkansas Court of Appeals on August 1, 2010, where
he served until December 31, 2012. Judge Abramson was elected to the
Arkansas Court of Appeals for an eight-year term beginning January
1, 2015.
He has participated in numerous Bar activities. He is past President
of the Monroe County Bar Association, and a member of the Supreme
Court Committee on Criminal Practice, the Supreme Court
Committee on Criminal Jury Instructions, the Committee on
Opportunities for Women and Minorities, and the Judicial Article
Task Force.
Judge Abramson currently serves as a member of the Board of
Directors of the Monroe County Community Foundation, Chairman
of the Mid Delta Health Systems Board of Directors, and Chairman of
the Smith Holly Grove Library, Inc. He is also a volunteer for the
Holly Grove Food Pantry.
Judge Abramson is a past President of both the Holly Grove Rotary
Club and the East Arkansas Legal Services. He was also elected a
Delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1979-80, where he
served on the Judicial Committee. He is a former Chairman of the
Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission, and the former Treasurer of
the Arkansas Delta Council. He was also the legal counsel for the
Eastern Arkansas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He
holds the Eagle Scout and Silver Beaver Awards.
Judge Abramson has been married to his wife, Mockie Abramson, for
thirty eight years, and they have two adult children, Anne Abramson,
a doctoral candidate at Yale University, and Emily Abramson, a
graduate of the University of Virginia.
