Interpreters for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing aspiring to interpret in the Arkansas court system must be members in good standing of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and hold certification from either RID or the National Association of the Deaf (NAD). Interpreters must strictly adhere to the tenets contained in the RID Code of Professional Conduct and also in Administrative Order Number 11, Arkansas Code of Professional Responsibility for Interpreters in the Judiciary. We contract directly with certified interpreters and through Communication Plus. If you are interested in contracting with the AOC directly, please contact the Interpreter Program at (501) 682-9400. Interpreters must also complete Orientation and Training and sign off on the Arkansas Code of Professional Responsibility. Application to Pursue Certification |
